HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid and CPR
In accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and national clinical bodies, this course provides the skills and knowledge required to recognise emergencies and provide immediate, effective treatment for sudden illness or injury.
What You’ll Learn
Comprehensive casualty assessment and safety protocols.
CPR techniques and automated external deflector (AED) operation.
Management of asthma, anaphylaxis, and choking.
Handling sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations, non-life-threatening bleeding, and envenomation (snake/spider bites).
Psychological aftercare for both rescuers and victims
Entry & Assessment Requirements
Physical Ability: Per ASQA regulations, students must be able to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor to be deemed competent. If you have physical limitations, please contact us; we can provide a non-accredited Certificate of Attendance if the competency cannot be met.
Digital Access: You must have access to an internet-enabled device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) to complete required online pre-course studies.
Assessment Methods: Evaluation includes a multiple-choice theory assessment and practical scenarios, such as managing an infant casualty, treating a nosebleed, and completing a first aid incident report.
Units Covered & Renewal
Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following units:
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
- HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
Renewal Recommendation: The CPR component (HLTAID009) should be refreshed every 12 months, while HLTAID011 is recommended for renewal every three years

Course Overview
Course Delivery & Duration
We offer two flexible Blended Learning options to suit your experience level. Both include self-paced online theory followed by a hands-on practical session in Belconnen.
Express Delivery
This streamlined “Fast-Track” session is designed for active first aiders who maintain a level of readiness.
Best For: Individuals who regularly provide first aid in their workplace and/or have completed a first aid course.
Requirements: This mode is specifically for students who have a professional requirement to utilise and maintain these skills in their current workplace.
Focus: This session focuses solely on practical assessments.
Duration: We allow 60 minutes, plus completion of pre-course online learning.
Standard Delivery
This comprehensive session is designed for those who require a full, guided training program.
Best For: New learners, those who have not refreshed their skills in several years, or individuals who do not frequently need to use first aid skills in their daily workplace.
Focus: A longer duration with thorough training in skills and knowledge to prepare you for practical assessments.
Duration: We allow 6 hours of face-to-face learning plus up to 2 hours of online learning.
Both options provide the same nationally accredited Statement of Attainment (issued by ABC First Aid RTO 3399) including:

Entry Requirements
Physical Capacity: You must be able to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult and infant manikin on the floor.
Online Pre-work: Tutorials and quizzes must be completed online prior to your workshop date.
USI: A Unique Student Identifier is required for all participants. [Register for a free USI here].
Practical Skills & Assessments Participants will be assessed on their ability to manage real-world scenarios, including:
CPR & AED: Adult and infant resuscitation with defibrillator use.
Medical Emergencies: Managing asthma, anaphylaxis, and choking.
Trauma: Treating fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and nosebleeds.
Wound Care: Managing non-life-threatening bleeding and shock.
Local Hazards: Treatment for envenomation (snake and funnel-web spider bites).
Incident Reporting: Completing a first aid report based on a simulated event.
Location & Workplace Training Courses are held at our Belconnen training facility.

Renewals & Validity
First Aid: Valid for 3 years.
CPR Component: Industry standards recommend renewal every 12 months.

Standard Fee: A $40.00 fee may be applied to cancellations or rescheduling.
Notice Period: If less than 12 hours’ notice is provided (or in the case of a “no show”), the full course fee may be charged.
