USI: Unique Student Identifier Number
To complete any First Aid Training Course, you must register for a USI – Unique Student Identifier.
To register, you need to go to the Australian Government website: https://www.usi.gov.au
You need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) for a few reasons, depending on your situation in Australia.
If you’re studying nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET):
- A USI is mandatory to receive government funding for your VET studies.
- It tracks your VET qualifications and achievements, creating a record for future reference and potential job applications.
- It simplifies transferring credits between different VET providers.
If you’re a higher education student (University or TAFE):
A USI is required to:
- Finalise your enrolment.
- Access Commonwealth financial support like HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP.
- Graduate from 2023 onwards.
Overall, a USI benefits you by:
- Providing a central record of your VET and higher education achievements. This can be helpful for demonstrating your skills and qualifications to potential employers or when applying for further study.
- Making it easier to access government funding and support for your education.
- Simplifying the administration of your education and training.
