Course Requirements:

Get your nationally recognised Childcare First Aid certificate in Belconnen. This ACECQA-approved course is specifically designed for educators, childcare workers, and parents in the ACT.

Course Delivery & Duration We use a Blended Learning model to save you time.

  • Online Theory: 2–3 hours of self-paced video tutorials and quizzes (must be completed before your practical session).

  • Face-to-Face Practical: A focused 60–90 minute assessment at our Belconnen training facility.

Requirements for Entry

  • Physical Capacity: Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor on an infant and adult manikin.

  • USI: All participants must provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Sign up for a FREE USI via the government portal.

  • Preparation: Book online and complete all online video tutorials and quizzes prior to the course workshop date.

This course is delivered and assessed by Local First Aid Courses Canberra in partnership with ABC First Aid RTO 3399. On successful completion, you will receive a nationally accredited certificate covering:

  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (Standard First Aid)

  • HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Practical Skills & Scenarios: You will be assessed on real-world emergency scenarios, including:

  • CPR & AED: Performing CPR on an adult and infant, including the use of an AED and recovery position.

  • Allergy & Respiratory: Managing a casualty with anaphylaxis (EpiPen) and asthma.

  • Trauma Management: Treating fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and severe bleeding.

  • Environmental Risks: Managing envenomation (snake and funnel-web spider bites).

  • Minor Injuries: Managing choking, nosebleeds, and minor wound cleaning for shock and bleeding.

  • Reporting: Completing a first aid incident report form based on a simulated scenario.

Location & Group Bookings Courses are usually delivered at a Local First Aid Courses Canberra training facility in Belconnen.

  • Onsite Training: If you have a group of staff, we can come to your business location to provide training in-house. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

What to Bring on the Day

  • Comfortable clothing: You will be required to perform practical tasks on the floor.

  • Your USI: Ensure you have your number ready for verification.

Renewals & Validity

  • Validity: Your First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years. The CPR component is valid for 1 year.

  • Easy Renewal: To renew before your expiry date, simply book the Express Refresher version of this course. Complete the 60-minute face-to-face practical assessment and online pre-work to stay compliant.
