Course Varieties

At Local First Aid Courses, we have two delivery types for undertaking your first aid certificate.

Express or Standard.

Our express course is designed for people who have done a first aid course in the past, or need to do a refresher course.

Our standard course is for people who have not completed a first aid course previously. Details about both types of delivery and the calendar to book in for both is listed below.

Course Overview

Standard First Aid Course

HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid

This course is for people who have not completed a first aid course before. It includes some additional information not covered specifically in the express course. The theory and practical assessments requirements are similar.

You can book in for the standard course if you have done First Aid previously to refresh your skills.

Course Requirements:

  • Book online and complete the online video tutorials and quizzes prior to the course workshop date.
  • Sign up for a FREE USI.
  • Attend the 45-minute face-to-face practical training and instruction session.

Entry Requirements:

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor on an infant and adult.

Cost:

$105 – Express
$125 – Standard
This course includes the following certifications: HLTAID009, HLTAID010, HLTAID011

Course Delivery:

This course is usually delivered at your workplace or at a Local First Aid Courses Canberra training facility.

Unit Being Delivered:

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Course Duration:

  • Blended delivery: Approx 1-3 hours online training  + 45-90min face to face practical session

Performance Tasks and Practical Scenarios:

  • Perform CPR on an adult (including the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
  • Complete a first aid incident report form based on a simulated first aid scenario
  • Perform CPR on an infant
  • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
  • Manage a casualty with asthma
  • Manage a choking casualty
  • Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
  • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed
  • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
  • Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain
  • Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)

Theory Assessment:

Online assessment consists of multiple-choice questions. You need to get all the questions correct to receive your First Aid Certificate.

Provider of Training and Assessment:

This course is delivered and assessed by Local First Aid Courses Canberra in partnership with ABC First Aid RTO 3399.

What To Bring On Your Day Of The Course:

  • Comfortable clothing
  • USI

What You Will Receive:

On successful completion of the course,  ABC Training will email you a link to a soft copy of your first aid certificate . This is valid for 3 years from the course completion date.

Renewals:

To renew your certificate before the expiry date, simply book the express version of the course using our booking calendar . Then complete the 60-minute face-to-face practical assessment and online training.

Cancellations or Rescheduling:

Please see our Booking Terms and Conditions. All booking cancellations or rescheduling will incur a $40.00 fee. In cases where less than 12 hours notice of cancellation or reschedule is provided, the full course fee may be charged (this also includes no shows).
